Year 8 students have been inspired by the gripping novel Stone Cold by Robert Swindells, and they are turning that inspiration into action for the local community. The story, which follows the challenges faced by a homeless teenager and explores themes of kindness, resilience, and social responsibility, has motivated students to make a real difference.

In a school-wide act of generosity, students are inviting everyone, staff and pupils alike, to donate non-perishable food items including:

  • Tinned food
  • Pasta
  • Rice
  • Other long-life goods

All donations should be brought to room C1. Posters displayed around Aspire Academy in classrooms and form rooms provide further information.

At the end of this half term, the collected items will be delivered to the Blackpool Soup Kitchen, supporting those in need within the local community.

This initiative is a fantastic example of students taking inspiration from literature and translating it into meaningful action, showing how stories can spark real-world kindness.
